Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Reason: WP:GS/SCW&ISIL. Skitash (talk) 16:19, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. WP:GS/SCW&ISIL does not mandate protection. Anarchyte (talk) 12:15, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 16:46, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. Stale, and image reverts look like a content dispute. Anarchyte (talk) 12:18, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Suspected LTA or socking as of late. JayCubby 18:31, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not indef, Twinkle did something I didn't want it to. JayCubby 20:10, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    User(s) blocked. Anarchyte (talk) 12:23, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent Vandalism. M.C. (talk) 20:42, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined PC is working as intended. Anarchyte (talk) 12:26, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. FMSky (talk) 21:26, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Anarchyte (talk) 12:38, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: For a few weeks, general IP harassment. Geraldo Perez (talk) 21:28, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Tell me if I'm missing something but I'm not seeing the harassment...? There was one nonconstructive edit this morning [1] and a mildly provocative warning from an IP a few hours ago [2] but I'm not seeing anything that warrants protection, especially when you have had multiple good-faith interactions with IPs on your talk page recently. Giraffer (talk) 22:55, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not done. Stale regardless of discussion above. Anarchyte (talk) 12:41, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Request temporary protection due to multiple disruptive edits/rollback by IP user 95.24.57.XX, user was warned to use the talk pages to gain support for his edits but didn't reply or stop the reinstating the edits Alawadhi3000 (talk) 21:29, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Aintabli (talk) 21:48, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. No demonstrated need at the moment. Anarchyte (talk) 12:39, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing by IPs. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 22:06, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Declined. Stale. Anarchyte (talk) 12:12, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Article repeatedly vandalized by IP editors. The leading sentence probably needs a bit of toning down, but before that happens, something should be done. APenguinThatIsSilly("talk") 23:39, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: There has been repeated removal of stable, well-sourced content by an IP editor and a cluster of newly registered accounts, all with a single-purpose focus. The accounts seem to make minor edits to obscure their intent, while the IP handles the actual deletion of content. This appears coordinated. Warnings have been issued, and discussion has been attempted on the talk page without engagement. J Pratas (talk) 02:00, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The accusation that I am in any way coordinating with anyone is a false and unfounded aspersion. There is a credible accusation of sock-puppetry but it has nothing to do with me (obviously), and semi-protection would not solve it. Also, certainly the least engaged actor on the talk-page is J Pratas, who is dismissive of all opposed arguments, no matter how straightforward they are. There is administrative attention needed for behavioral issues at that page, but this is not it. 100.36.106.199 (talk) 10:14, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The first edit literally corrected your grammar and spelling, you don’t need consensus on that. And how do I prove to you that we aren’t the same person? Benji1207 (talk) 02:43, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Semi-protection has expired almost three days ago. Time to renew the semi-protection to prevent vandalism from IPs. Jon2guevarra (talk) 09:58, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Hundreds of recent IP and likely sock edits to a former FA. Have reverted to last good version. Seasider53 (talk) 11:50, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of vandalism, I have warned the editor on various occasions while asking discuss it in the talk page and I have provided sources(used on the article) on why he was incorrect. Replayerr (talk) 13:57, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Repeated addition of repetitive text by IP Joshua Jonathan - Let's talk! 01:05, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Mainly known for being a pro-Israeli influencer in the Israel-Palestine conflict. Most edits and content are around that, and many IP and non-EC users are editting into this conflict. Likely should be ECP protected. Bluethricecreamman (talk) 01:30, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please also see discussion here Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view/Noticeboard#Description_of_Meir_Kahane_at_page_on_Lizzy_Savetsky. The article probably is probably more than 50% ARBPIA content. Bluethricecreamman (talk) 01:56, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia page for Whitney Houston should be locked, because people have been removing important information that should still be there.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.135.76.170 (talk) 02:37, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent vandalism/disruptive editing, along with many comments irrelevant to discussion of the article, from IPs/new users. ApexParagon (talk) 03:53, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. There is a high bar for talk page protections. Sdrqaz (talk) 14:02, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Recently persistent vandalism from IP users, who always adding awful, hate speech word like "This is an awful game. Don't ever play it.". CricketXP (talk) 13:06, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. That was a week ago. Sdrqaz (talk) 14:02, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: BLP policy violations – Article seems to have a long history of BLP violations and subtle vandalism by IPs. Perception312 (talk) 14:04, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Indefinite semi-protection. This article was semi-protected for a year, and was recently unprotected. However ever since it was unprotected at the start of March, nearly every single edit has been an IP being unconstructive and someone reverting the edit. It'd make it much easier for the constructive editors if we could do this early on rather than later to limit IPs and new editors, considering this article is about a high-profile actress; we did have to this for Tom Holland very recently. 750h+ 14:08, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Repeated vandalism by different IPs over the past 2 weeks. – notwally (talk) 14:43, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Extended confirmed protection: Persistent edit warring, removal of academic sources, misusing quotes and erasing scientific data. The page needs experienced users moderation. Fragrant Peony (talk) 14:47, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Immediate resume of the same editing patterns that lead to the previous page protection. livelikemusic (TALK!) 15:45, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. FMSky (talk) 16:06, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Pending changes: Subject has been deceased for over five years at this point. The administrator who protected the page is unfortunately deceased. CutlassCiera 00:53, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: Unprotected Fermant25 (talk) 10:47, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not unprotected No reason for unprotection provided. Ponyobons mots 16:07, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Since somebody deleted ALL links to my books in your first draft, please ADD at least just a link to you mentioning that I wrote over 25 books (which is main focus of my last 30 years) with the link NeverGiveUpYourDream.US (leading to my Amazon author page) THANK YOU! (Is this conflict of interest? GoodKindandHappy (talk) 21:35, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done We're not going to re-instate this edit (which is what you're basically asking us to do), as it was reverted off as spam. We're also not going to link to an Amazon page for much the same reasons. We are an encyclopaedia project, not a publisher's bio. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 15:17, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
