Article Licensing

[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. Proposals for AMA Membership Meeting

[edit]

As AMA Coordinator I am requesting that suggestions be placed on Wikipedia:AMA Membership Meeting plans for our first membership meeting, to be held in the near future, (hopefully before any election occurs.) Since we have never had any kind of "official" meeting we need to discuss how this will occur (i.e. Wiki pages or IRC channel), how it will be structured (i.e. meeting agenda) and if there will be any "chair" to supervise the meeting and meeting "secretary" to write up minutes or keep some kind of official record of what transpires. Thanks in advance for your input and your continued work as an advocate. — © Alex756 20:30, 5 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Human Rights Servey on Wikipedia (The final post of I_sterbinski)

[edit]
Dear all,
Wikipedia was recently a subject of intensive research of an huge international human right organization. A team of people from different nationalities and ages were acting on Wikipedia for 20 days, investigating previously noted anomalities of Wikipedia free editing and forming a final report, which (between the others similar reports) will later be a guide to all future moves of the organization concerning Wikipedia. Acting under an account of a real person, their privacy is to be held private. Therefore, very few private information will be revealed.
Also, this is a result of the lack of final possition of the organization concerning Wikipedia and human rights, which was still not formed.
The team's final post on Wikipedia, where they explain their actions can be found on the following addresses:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:I_sterbinski
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Macedonia#Human_Rights_Servey_on_Wikipedia_.28The_final_post_of_I_sterbinski.29
The team would like to thank to all the persons who took part in the correspondence with us.
We also want to appologise for keeping our identity secret for a longer period.
Best regards,

Hello, good work on Kozu Station, and thanks for the contribution. However, you forgot to add any references to the article. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and there is currently a push to encourage editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. From what websites, books, or other places did you learn the information that you added to Kozu Station? Would it be possible for you to mention them in the article? KKs and American corporations

[edit]

I was glad to see some of the changes you made to the article on kabushiki gaisha. It looks like an earlier contributor didn't know that any incorporated entity is a corporation, let alone many of the finer distinctions between types of corporations.

In your edits today (23 January), you refer to "closed KKs" and "non-closed KKs"; I'm uninformed about these terms (closed vs non-closed); could you elaborate on these a little? I'm familiar with "closely held" companies—ones whose unlisted shares are held by a small group of people—and was wondering if there is any distinction here; e.g., "closed" KKs being ones whose shares are all held by one person or other entity, and "non-closed" but also not public being ones whose shares are held by a limited number of people.

Could you also give the Kabushiki kaisha#History paragraph a once over? The statement that kabushiki gaisha resemble "prewar American corporations" looks a little fishy. Given the context, writing that they resemble prewar Illinois corporations would make sense, but saying just American corporations seems to me to be a bit of a broad sweep of the brush. I think it should say what kind of American or Illinois corporation as well.

Also, given your self-intro on your user page, I'd like to suggest that you take a look at the article on yugen kaisha, since some of the terminology there looks a bit imprecise. Maybe you can tighten it up a bit.

Thanks, Jim_Lockhart 15:50, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Godo gaisha

[edit]

Great article! Solid writing, too. :)

One quibble: your English renderings of 定款 and 社員. Isn't a 定款 a document usually called articles of incorporation in English? I'm sure, in your position, you've seen numerous 定款; if not articles of incorporation, what is the equivalent document called in English speaking countries? (I realize that it might be different from country to country, and even state to state in the US; so what is the generic term?) And—please correct me if I'm wrong—but isn't the generic equivalent of 社員 called partner or founding partner in English?

In translating Japanese terms, I personally tend to avoid looking too hard at the constituent kanji used to express them and try to look for a functional equivalent that will ring a bell with the English reader. Though operating agreement for 定款 is probably defensible in certain contexts (e.g., when you're explaining what a 定款 is), I have some doubts about using it as a functional equivalent, especially when operating agreement can mean something else in English. Further, I think member is misleading as a translation of 社員, unless it is used in English as a term of art meaning the same thing.

Apologies if this sound pedantic, but I hope it'll help you make a great article even better. Best regards, Jim_Lockhart 13:10, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anti Japanese sentiment

[edit]

I can't believe that you think that "I just think a lot of the anti-Japanese sentiment in Asia (and a lot of the anti-Asian sentiment in Japan) is unfounded or at least very exaggerated."

Maybe its because you are in Japan, but I don't think you know anything about Japanese war crimes from the medieval ages all the way to WWII.

Read cruelties of Japanese soldiers during the Imjin War (1592-1597). Japanese soldiers raped, kidnapped, pillaged, looted, and burned buildings, people, women, men, even dogs.

You have no idea how Korean or Chinese people feel today because of Japanese crimes.

Take a look at the Rape of Nanking. Historians think at least 300,000 Chinese civilians were killed, raped, or kidnapped!

Read about the Unit 731. Unite 731 was a secret medical unit during WWII. Vivisections were perfomed. Japanese scientists put animal blood into humans (notably Russian POWs, Chinese, Koreans, and Mongolians. They put humans into extreme conditions (freezing them), and blew them up with various weapons (such as flamethrowers or bombs)

Japanese soldiers had contests between captains to see which one would kill 100 Chinese people first.

Looting was at a very large scale and the Japanese goverment did nothing to prevent it.

Is it because you are in Japan and think it is a great country? Of course it is a great country. Japan is a world power today.

But consider the Japanese crimes. Consider why you think that the "anti-Japanese sentiment is exaggerated" Its just ridiculous how so many people do not know the true horrors behind Japan. Good friend100 00:34, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Roppongi

[edit]

Your edit to Roppongi#History left a non-sentence:

"Although the area was trafficked for centuries and served as the site of the cremation of Shogun Tokugawa Hidetada's wife in 1626, [1]"

I cannot determine from the edit history what the second clause of the sentence should be. Also, what does "trafficked" mean in reference to a place? Do you mean there was much traffic through the area? Your edit also removes some seemingly relevant and interesting information:

"Roppongi was a simple crossing of two streets until after the Meiji Restoration when it became a quartering area for the Imperial Japanese Army."

Unspecified source for Image:Whitney MacArthur Almond 1950.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Whitney MacArthur Almond 1950.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then you need to specify who owns the copyright, please. If you got it from a website, then a link to the website where it was taken from with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

Unspecified source for Image:JFK_airport_map.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:JFK_airport_map.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. Hello, Sekicho

I know you've been away from the Japan article for a while. But I was hoping that you can comment again, regarding where the "Yayoi" came from, at Talk:Japan#Suggesting "China and Korea"?

Our current discussion is between the following 2 choices:

Option 1 — Most recent consensus (as of 3 January 2007)...
 • The Yayoi period, starting around the third century BC, introduced new practices, such as wet-rice farming, iron and bronze-making and a new style of pottery, brought by migrants from the Chinese mainland and the Korean peninsula. With the development of Yayoi culture, a predominantly agricultural society emerged on the Japanese archipelago.
 • The points that differ are: "from the Chinese mainland and the Korean peninsula" in the 1st sentence, and "on the Japanese archipelago" in the 2nd sentence.
 • Pros: Some of us claim this is the more stable and accurate wording, using "Korean peninsula" instead of "Korea", and will prevent any potential revert-wars.
 • Cons: Detractors claim it is "original research" to replace "China", "Korea", and "Japan" with "the Chinese mainland", "the Korean peninsula", and "the Japanese archipelago", based on wording used by the majority of sources.
 • This wording was agreed upon (on 3 Jan.) by the 5 of us: Endroit, Jefu, HongQiGong, LordAmeth, and John Smith's.
Option 2 — Currently suggested wording...
 • The Yayoi period, starting around the third century BC, introduced new practices, such as wet-rice farming, iron and bronze-making and a new style of pottery, brought by migrants from China and Korea. With the development of Yayoi culture, a predominantly agricultural society emerged in Japan.
 • The points that differ are: "from China and Korea" in the 1st sentence, and "in Japan" in the 2nd sentence.
 • Pros: Some of us claim this is the more accurate wording based on sources, the majority of which uses "China", "Korea", and "Japan" (instead of "Chinese mainland", "Korean peninsula", and "Japanese archipelago").
 • Cons: Detractors claim this wording is cause for content dispute, and the word "Korea" is particularly problematic because a "state of Korea" did not exist during the "Yayoi" times as claimed by Endroit in the discussions.
 • This wording is currently being suggested by: Jefu, HongQiGong, and Sir Edgar.

Actually, I looked into the history of UF and FSU and FSU really has a better historic case as the "flagship". Since that designation is troublesome, I wrote the "one of two" text and added one of the significant links establishing/supporting the claim. Image:Imperial_Japan_Airways_route_map.png listed for deletion

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Imperial_Japan_Airways_route_map.png has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license GFDL-self-no-disclaimers to license it under the GFDL, or to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use PD-self to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. – riana_dzasta 13:07, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:AmericanEagleLogo.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AmericanEagleLogo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 03:42, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use disputed for Image:Shidehara TIME.jpg

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Shidehara TIME.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 15:57, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Jim Stork

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Jim Stork, by Addd wiki (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Jim Stork seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Jim Stork, please affix the template hangon to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 20:11, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Need cite from past article

[edit]

Sekicho - You are a prolific contributor, so this may seem like a pretty random request. You placed an article on everything2 about Dodge v. Ford in Dec. 2005. In that article, you said that Ford Motor was worth $130M in 1916. I am putting together material for a class I teach at NYU, and was wondering if you could cite a source for that figure. It's interesting to me as the only valuation I found for Ford in that year, and it's a plausible number, but I need a source before I can use it in my materials. If you can do this, just let me know here or on my user page at DocGov, and I will give you my e-mail address. Thanks. --DocGov 03:53, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Vietnam 787.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Vietnam 787.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Question on Chuo Shinkansen Image

[edit]

Hi there Sekicho. I have a question on the Chuo Shinkansen image (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Chuo-Shinkansen.png): Is there any further info on where the train will stop etc. I didn't see anything in the official release from JR Tokai yesterday but according to the Japanese page there will be 9 stops ("沿線9都府県(東京、神奈川、山梨、長野、岐阜、愛知、三重、奈良、大阪)にそれぞれ1駅ずつ、計9駅を設置"). Any idea where they will be and would it be possible to change the image accordingly. At the moment it looks as if there will only be 4 stops. Also, JR Tokai have only said they will build the Chuo Shinkansen to Nagoya (nothing official on an extension to Osaka yet I think). Thanks again for all your work on Wikipedia. Proposed deletion of Masatoshi Abe

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Masatoshi Abe, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Has been unsourced for 3 months, fails the sourcing requirement at WP:BLP

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Replaceable fair use File:Tran14G3.jpg

[edit]

Hi. As we now have more than 100 free licensed images of Lockheed Constellations, I don't think we need this image under a fair use rationale.

Thanks for uploading File:Tran14G3.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add , without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
 2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Thanks, Infrogmation (talk) 00:18, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Miami-landsat.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Miami-landsat.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:32, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Doug Gallagher requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon at the top of the article, immediately below the speedy deletion () tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate), and providing your reasons for contesting on the article's talk page, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

You may want to read the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. Horologium (talk) 12:15, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Wikipedia. When removing content, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the content has been restored, as you can see from the page history. File permission problem with File:Japanese only sign.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Japanese only sign.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

 • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
 • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add OTRS pending to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 02:22, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Sato and Nixon 1972.gif

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Sato and Nixon 1972.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. Asks for your opinion for Maidashi ryokuchi.

[edit]

How do you do? My name is Hot cake syrup, I read your article Hibiya Park with considerable interest, thank you.
Maidashi ryokuchi is proposed deletion, but I think it is to leave over. The reason is that the park is not famous, but it has substantial implication for the Fukuoka's modern history. And in Wikipedia there are too few articles for Japanese garden. If your concurrence on my opinion, please note your comment on Talk:Maidashi ryokuchi. Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:2004 RNC banner.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the image description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.

Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thanks again for your cooperation. Kelly hi! 17:51, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

 1. edit the page
 2. remove the text that looks like this:
 3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Ad Orientem (talk) 22:37, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Skymark-logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. User Box WP Japan

[edit]

Hi. I have a discussion up at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Japan#Membership Roll? which concerns users who display <tt>User WikiProject Japan</tt> on their user page.

If I can get consensus, I would like to list you all under Category:WikiProject Japan participants. As of now, you will not be listed unless you switch to the other User box <tt>User WP Japan</tt>.

And if you really do not want to get listed, would you still mind switching to the other User box and use the feature that suppresses listing?
If you don't want to be listed, replace User WikiProject Japan with , or on your Babel replacing your |WikiProject Japan| with |special-boxes=|
Thanks. --Kiyoweap (talk) 10:02, 13 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed Deletion of Glaucus Research Group

Hello Sekicho, this is to advise you that I have place an AfD (Article For Deletion) for the article Glaucus Research Group because it does not currently meet criteria of inclusion in Wikipedia and is more or less a self-promotion of a non-notable company, see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Glaucus Research Group to vote for/against or comment on the proposed AfD. Please DO NOT DELETE the AfD notice from the article page as this would be a violation of the AfD and Wikipedia policy and to do so would be considered an act of vandalism. About this edit, the alt text was added in the major re-write here. The description is intentional, though I can understand why you thought it might not be serious. This message contains important information about an administrative situation on Wikipedia. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.

Please carefully read this information:

The Arbitration Committee has authorised discretionary sanctions to be used for pages regarding living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic which you have edited. The Committee's decision is here.

Discretionary sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimize disruption to controversial topics. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to the topic that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behavior, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. This message is to notify you that sanctions are authorised for the topic you are editing. Before continuing to edit this topic, please familiarise yourself with the discretionary sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

Edit war warning

[edit]
Stop icon

Your recent editing history at William Saito shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Help request for mapping section titles

[edit]

Hi. We (the Research Team at Wikimedia Foundation) are building an algorithm that will align Wikipedia article sections across languages. For improving this algorithm we need the help of multilingual Wikipedia editors to provide true statements to the algorithm. You are contacted because based on your Babel template and/or content translation tool usage you know at least two of the following languages: ar (Arabic), fr (French), ja (Japanese), en (English), es (Spanish), ru (Russian).

(Note: by clicking the links in the following paragraph, you will be taken to Google spreadsheet.) If you'd like to help us with translating a subset of the section titles on or before 2018-05-06, please read and follow the instructions. If you see instructions in another language, please scroll down to find your preferred language. If you have questions about this message, you can contact us via Diego. Thank you! :) --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 15:49, 23 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please read this notification carefully, it contains important information about an administrative situation on Wikipedia. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.

A community decision has authorised the use of general sanctions for pages related to the blockchain and cryptocurrencies. The details of these sanctions are described here. All pages that are broadly related to these topics are subject to a one revert per twenty-four hours restriction, as described here.

General sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after he or she has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. This notification is meant to inform you that sanctions are authorised in these topic areas, which you have been editing. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

Hi, thanks for your contribution to Yoshihide Suga. I note that you wrote: "Suga was replaced following Taro Aso's accession to the premiership in August 2007", though Aso did not become the Prime Minister until 2008. Can you take a look? Interested in starting a WikiProject?

[edit]

I've noticed that you've edited a lot of Japanese keiretsu, for example Mitsubishi and Mitsui. I've always been fascinated by keiretsu and am wondering if you want to help start WikiProject Keiretsu? At this point I'm just looking to see if people would be interested in such a wikiproject, not sure if it'd ever be created. —Panamitsu (talk) 01:00, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
